SAC receives NAIDOC Person/Organisation of the Year Award

NAIDOC Week is one of our most favourite times of the year as we join with organisations and communities across the Maranoa to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year was extra special for the Surat Aboriginal Corporation as we received the Maranoa NAIDOC Person / Organisation of the Year Award for 2019.

We were both surprised and humbled to have received the award as our dedication and commitment to improving the overall wellbeing of Indigenous people within the Maranoa was recognised.

As an organisation, we want to see healthy, strong and empowered Indigenous communities embracing opportunities to develop positive, sustainable outcomes for current and future generations.

But we can’t do it alone!

There are many wonderful organisations within the Maranoa and greater South West Queensland region whom we work with to achieve our goals in supporting and strengthening Indigenous communities.

To you all, we say thank you!!!

Thank you for your time, commitment and effort in working with us. It is a privilege to collaborate with the amazing faces behind these organisations.

We also could not operate without a wonderful Board of Directors who provide the Corporation with direction, guidance and support. Again, thank you for all that you do.

And lastly, thank you to the generous volunteers who also continually go above and beyond in assisting us in our pursuits.

Congratulations to everyone who made the 2019 NAIDOC Week celebrations a huge success. We can’t wait to start organising next year’s event!
